We are Greg & Carol Rosini. Greg and I met in 2006 and in July of 2008 we blended our family of five children. It has since expanded with three grandkids and two dogs. I'm sure you will see our fur babies (Lucy & Ethel) about the winery!
When we met I was starting to expand my palette into bold reds, but Greg was not much of wine drinker. On our first wedding anniversary we went to Napa and he has been hooked on the bold reds ever since. Now we love exploring new wine regions and tasting new varietals.
I retired from the corporate world in 2013 and now Greg is looking at retirement from the corporate grind as well. So we pondered what to do with the next chapter of our lives and the answer was obvious...let's make wine!
In January of 2018 we purchased the Double D Ranch, a 25 acre property in the heart of Rockwall County. The property came with three ponds, two barns, and a house with a pool. The house was built in 1997 and needed a full renovation. It took about 5 months to complete the renovations on the house and pool. It is now listed on VRBO and we had our first renters in June of 2018.
In March of 2019 we planted our first vineyard of Blanc du Bois. Although we are looking forward to making wine with our estate grapes we will be buying the bulk of our grapes from the high plains, east Texas and central Texas. In 2019 we purchased over 19 tons of grapes to make our first wines. We are doing a Blanc du Bois (Dry and Semi-sweet), Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and a Red Blend of Malbec and Dolcetto grapes. Looking forward to the 2020 harvest!
In the fall of 2020 we entered The Lone Star International Wine Competition. We won a silver metal for our Blanc du Bois dry and our Cabernet Sauvignon!
We have a large Apiary that consists of 12 to 14 bee hives. We are devoted to helping the environment and local bee population. The crafty side of me had fun naming the bee hives!
The honey our bees produce will be for sale in the winery. We will also be looking into making mead.
